30-07-2018 / Mr. Coolgreen Having Fun At The Pool
It was hot during the penultimate day of July and Mr. Coolgreen's pocket thermometer exploded some degrees ago.
It was humid too, which meant that the water evaporating into the air interfered with his flying.
That's when he said: "You know what? I really think I've earned myself a treat". He was right; he had been all day making sure the other inhabitants of the garden were ok after the trimming done on The Persistent Tree.
The bees weren't too pleased with the relocation of the climbing plant that had their favorite flowers, but Mr. Coolgreen couldn't do much about that.
After a short flight, he arrived at the Turquoise Pool and luckily for him, it was empty. No other bugs on sight, and even better, plenty of leaves at his disposal.

Mr. Coolgreen Wants A Dip In The Pool
"This is my lucky day!" he said excited. He couldn't remember the last time he had the pool to himself. The last two years had been as busy as an ant colony moving camp.
Before doing anything else, he had to make sure the water as at an appropriate temperature; after all, he didn't want to become beetle soup so young.
Is The Water Cool?
It was perfect though. Cool enough to refresh him after such a long day.
But before jumping in, he had a change of heart. He didn't just want to get wet. He wanted some excitement! and that's when his eyes were laid on something he hadn't seen in a long time.
The Good Life
He saw the best surfboard his tiny eyes had ever seen, either someone forgot it or left it there for someone else to use. It didn't matter, Mr. Coolgreen was grateful for the chance and he hopped right on it.
You'd be wrong to think he didn't have a blast, because he did. He pushed the water against the edges of the Turquoise Pool and it pushed the water back to Mr. Coolgreen. It was perfect, he surfed like it was the last day of his life. No wave went to waste and plenty of water fell on him to cool him.
"A much better option than simply swimming" he said, and who are we to judge it wasn't?
Eventually he reached for one of the lifesaving leaves the pool provides and got on it, and like all good services, it came with a towel free of charge, which he obviously used to dry himself.
Organic Towel
He made sure to dry his extremities well, including the one that he lost a half of while defending a family of ladybugs from a bird who wanted them all for dinner.
He dried his wings and antennas properly, otherwise his flying systems would be all wonky.
Finally, he polished his shell and wings to make them shine properly.
Shiny Finish
After that, he felt a trembling on his insides.
"Uh, oh, that ain't good" he thought, "can't fly on an empty stomach!"
He was right, it's not advisable to fly while hungry because that makes turning and maneuvering a lot harder, and birds are always waiting for a chance like that in order to catch a tasty snack like him.
"I guess I still have time for a pre-flight snack" he said while glancing at the sun. That was an accurate statement, there was plenty of time before sunset.
But First, A Snack
He munched on a leaf that was properly toasted, just like he liked it. Even though he only had one half extremity and had some problems keeping the leaf steady, that didn't stop him from enjoying his snack.
After all, it'd be a pity to complain after such a lovely evening where things went perfectly for him.
When he had enough, he rested for a moment.
Enough Fun For Today
He didn't say anything at all. I guess he was contemplating how lucky he was after spending an afternoon to himself. He basked in the sun for a while, thinking.
He has always been a bug of few words and he clearly wasn't going to ruin a good moment by saying something not needed.
I was thinking of the same myself when he suddenly flitted his wings and took off.
I'm glad you had a good time, Mr. Coolgreen. Until next time.
