Light And Paint

"Click" heard The Painter while pressing the brush against her palette.

"I thought you wouldn't come" she said relieved without taking her eyes off the canvas as she spread the paint over it.

"I promised I'd be here" said The Photographer calmly while checking the screen on his camera.

She smiled as the paint flowed through the fabric with her delicate strokes.

People strolling through the street saw her while casually glancing at what she was doing.

He gazed at the painting, but he couldn't stop staring at her. She was so focused but at the same time, filled with joy.

Green and blue danced around each other over the white surface as The Photographer gently kissed The Painter on her right cheek.

She teased him by painting a line on his forehead in order to make him retreat.

He chuckled while taking a step back. His eyes were on the screen of his camera, framing her inside of it along with her creation.

The Painter switched to reds and yellows on her brush. She could see The Photographer in the corner of her eye, moving around her as she also could hear his camera taking a picture from time to time.

He sat beside her on a stone bench without making a sound. His eyes were absorbed by her smile, watching her create again was all he wanted.

She was soothed by his presence. Painting freed her but having him around while doing so gave her the peace she desperately needed.

A circle was drawn around the human figures that were kissing in the painting. The brush was submerged in the milky water to strip it of all paint.

The Painter took a black marker out of her tool box and used it to sign her initials on the lower left corner that she left blank for that purpose.

The Photographer took a picture of that moment when mother and the daughter met for the first time.

They both stood back, looking at the new family member. It consisted of a couple made of different colors kissing while a ring of fire encircled them, protecting them from outer space.

He held her hand strongly but she held his like her life depended on it.

"Have I told you today that I love you?" asked The Painter as she turned her head towards his.

"Tell me once more if you still do" replied The Photographer with his eyes closed while smiling.

She put her arms around her and whispered softly "I love you. Thank you for making this possible with your light".

"All I want is for you to fill my heart and life with your color" he replied.

Light and Paint embraced each other in silence and even though the street was crowded around them, that moment was only theirs.
